About us
2011 - Trimester 1 & 2
Radio Caley has had a great first semester and has achieved a lot over the past year. The committee has many big plans to ensure the station progresses even further and many of these are already being putting into action. As your number one student station, we are constantly looking for new ways to update the station and get more people involved.
The station is now broadcasting to the later time of 10pm this semester, allowing more shows on the station. We are hoping to be able to broadcast shows even later next year. We are also soon to be broadcasting for 24 hours in the next few weeks.
We are currently broadcasting throughout the GCUSA building. This means we have a higher listener ship than ever before and allows people to tune into our station without the use of a computer. It also gives the station a bigger presence around the university and gets more people involved and aware of the hard work all the volunteers and committee put into our student radio.
Radio Caley is also using new output software called ‘mAirlist’, a programme that allows all djs and presenters to produce higher quality shows at ease. It is much closer to the equipment used in commercial stations, giving our station a more professional sound and look. It will allow us to stack our music rather than simply have a playlist on an Ipod, enabling us to overlap songs and make smooth transitions between speech and from one song to the next.
The station is also soon to be broadcasting hourly news bulletins in between shows and during the day. The team is made up of many committed individuals that are trying hard to make the news a success. There will not only be student association news, but also news from other areas of the University, along with any local or national stories that may be of interest to students, such as the recent tuition fees debate.
Exciting new jingles have also been produced for the station. There is the generic Radio Caley jingle that is expected to be played a few times on every show and presenters have also created their own jingles. A jingle for the news has also been made.
If any volunteers wish to have a show on Radio Caley then do not hesitate to get in touch with a member of the committee or send an email to programming@radiocaley.com. We have a really wide selection of shows varying from chart music, metal, indie, international music, chat shows and loads more. There is definitely something to suit everyone’s tastes so make sure you tune in!
